The Montana Insurance Continuing Education Program requires that licensed
producers (other than Limited Lines Credit and Surety producers) fulfill 24
hours of CE within every two year period. Courses can address
any line of authority (for example, Life/Disability producers may take P & C
courses and P & C producers may take Life/Disability courses) but at least 1
hour must address Montana legislative changes and at least 3 hours must
address Ethics. The Ethics requirement applies for license renewal
periods beginning on or after January 1, 2010.
Producer licenses expire on the last day of the month prior to the
producer's birthday month. (For example, if a producer's birthday is
April 20th, her license will expire on March 31st.) Producers born in
even years (1964, 1980) will renew their licenses in even years (2008) and
producers born in odd years (1965, 1981) will renew their licenses in odd
years (2009).
Special requirements apply to Limited Lines Credit producers and Surety
Bail Bonds producers.
